Young and the Restless

Step Aside, Jordan! Young & Restless May Already Have Its Next Big Bad Ready to Wreak Havoc: ‘There’s Always a Twin’

Recently, we’ve lamented the lack of storyline that The Young and the Restless has been giving Sharon. (Read that story here.) But that could change on a dime — but not in a way that the character would like! Linden Ashby suggests that although the object of his obsession sent Cameron back to hell, he may not be done raising it.

Considering that over the years, The Young and the Restless has brought back Jerry Douglas (as Alistair, after John’s death), Ted Shackelford (as Jeffrey, after lookalike sib William’s death) and Ashby’s own wife Susan Walters (as Diane, after a whole murder mystery was built around her “death”), anything is possible. “There’s always a twin,” the Emmy nominee tells SoapHub. “There’s always a way.”

As a matter of fact, if Cameron did have a heretofore-unknown twin brother, it might give Ashby a chance to do more than terrorize Sharon Case. Imagine Cameron’s sibling showing up in Genoa City to stake a claim to some inheritance. He’s not a villain per se, but he is a problem for Sharon. They’d try to work out an agreement, and in doing so, they could find themselves attracted to one another.

Tricky, right? Because Sharon would find it difficult to wrap her head around her desire for a man who looks just like her abuser. Luckily, there’s a new shrink in town to whom the therapist could turn for guidance and clarity. Before we knew it, she could be caught up in a psychologically complex triangle with Cameron’s brother and Alan.

What’s more, just when Sharon chose Alan, aka the safe bet, Cameron’s doppelganger would start dating Phyllis. Sharon would try to resist temptation, but you know how that goes. We’d end up with Alan suggesting that Sharon is trying to self-sabotage, Phyllis fired up because Sharon can’t stand to see her happy, and Sharon just trying to follow her heart.
